It’s Mother’s Day, Time To Celebrate!

Since part of the focus of my blog is Celebration I made a cake! I know this always trips people up when they try to make the correlation between it and a healthy lifestyle. I’ll never stop preaching the importance of adopting a lifestyle that is sustainable and includes those moments in life that are meant to be celebrated. You can have your cake and eat it to (pun intended). You just can’t have an entire cake, everyday if you have specific fitness goals. You have to plan, prepare and then follow your plan.

For this cake I drew inspiration from Mother’s Cookies because, well….moms! It made complete sense in many head. I’m not just celebrating traditional moms today, our society’s usually definition, I’m celebrating the women who mother in non-traditional ways too. Women are amazing, each one unique and special in her own way and is deserving of a special day and celebration!

Today I want to recognize and thank the amazing women in my life. From my own mama who gave me life and taught me that love knows know limits, my mother-in-law who raised my husband who is so generous with our family, my aunt who’s loved me like her own while never having children, the moms of my closest friends who helped mold them into the best support a girl could ever hope for, the women who encircle me and pour into, love and encourage me (you know who you are)… Thank you for your mothering ways. Each of you has had a unique and special influence on my life. I love you and am so grateful for you all!

Motherhood takes all forms and for most doesn’t look the same from the outside. Mother’s Day can be a painful subject for some. For some it’s a reminder their mother is no longer living, for others a sad feeling wanting motherhood so much it aches inside, others frustrated they haven’t met “the one” yet, so motherhood seems that much more far off, and, for others still, heartbroken because heaven gets to raise their babies in their place. If you’re living in this space know you are loved and thought of today.

Being a mom has meant so many things to me… too many to mention. Even if I tried, I’d never name all the ways my life has changed, the lengths I’ve grown or the way my heart has increased. My greatest joy is quite simply my kids, Nicole and Ethan. I’m so lucky God chose me to be their mom. Without them I wouldn’t have the title of Mom and I love being theirs!
